Is the newest Apple gadget really worth the high price it commands? If you have the cash to spend on the Apple Watch, are you prepared to live with its drawbacks? This is the priciest smartwatch that we’ve reviewed to date (and we didn’t even get the expensive one) but it does quite bit more than the average smartwatch so the price difference is generally justified?

We’ve got 5 reasons why you should NOT get the Apple Watch (and a user generated #6 as an extra) so if you can overlook them, then you’re all set to spend all that cash! If you need more details, check out our full review of the Apple Watch!

Reason 1 – It only works with the iPhone

We all know that Apple stuff only plays well in the house filled with Apple stuff but the with the Apple Watch, it only plays well with anything newer than the iPhone 5 so pretty much in the house filled with Apple stuff, you get to use it only in the living room.

The Apple Watch tethers to some of the sensors on your iPhone which is why its not compatible with the Mac, the iPod and iPads which, in general, seems silly to us.

Reason 2 – The screen is so tiny!

42 mm isn’t a lot of screen space especially when compared to some of the other smartwatches out there such as the Galaxy Gear S and the Moto360. With a larger screen, you’d be able to see more, do more but the Apple Watch’s tiny watch face is going to really constrain what you get to do with the device.

With all that being said, did you really need something larger than a regular watch on your wrist? We’ll be honest, the Galaxy Gear S looks pretty ridiculous on our wrists as its more like a smart bangle than a smartwatch in our opinion.

Reason 3 – The battery life is horrible

We’re all pretty busy people so having to charge another device is a pain in the ass. What happens when you go on a short trip and forget the charger? Well, you get to use it for a day and then it ends up being a tiny little brick that you wear on your wrist.

You may be thinking that you could use a standard Qi charger to power the Apple Watch but since Apple doesn’t play with others, you’re out of luck.

Reason 4 – It’s not cheap

The price of the Apple Watch ranges from $350 to $18k+ which means theres an Apple Watch for almost anybody. The cheapest version, the Apple Watch Sport, at $350 dollars is still 50 bucks more than the Galaxy Gear S and does much less than it.

With the Apple Watch, you end up with a lot of wonderful design features that unless you’re using the device, you will not notice. With the added price, you have to deal with some of the sillier things that Apple has introduced into the Apple Watch, like sending your heartbeat.

Reason 5 – It’s a watch but not

This bothers us the most because a watch is suppose to be timeless but the Apple Watch has an expiry date. The moment a newer Apple Watch is released, the value of the original Apple Watch will drop which is unlike a watch of good quality, which will increase in value.

This reason is particularity scathing for the really expensive Apple Watches as we’d personally take a $18k Rolex over a $18k Apple Watch as we’d be able to sell that watch if times got tough. The Apple Watch would end up being an expensive souvenir that we may or may not display.

The final reason, as mentioned by one of our viewers, is that the Apple Watch isn’t waterproof which may be important for some people.

So those are all the reasons that we’ve come up regarding why you should NOT get the Apple Watch. Think we missed one? Leave it in the comment section below.
